Description
In Tibetan religious literature, Jamgön Kongtrul's Treasury of Knowledge in ten volumes stands out as a unique encyclopedic masterpiece embodying the entire range of Buddhist teachings as they were preserved in Tibet.
In this volume, Journey and Goal, the focus is on the spiritual path – "the journey", and the resultant state of enlightenment where it leads – "the goal." Extensively varied perspectives are offered, not only from within the many schools of Buddhism, but also from the different levels of practice and attainment. This is in fact the most comprehensive treatment of these themes to appear in the English language.
ABOUT THE AUTHORS
Jamgön Kongtrul Lodrö Tayé (1813-1900), a pivotal figure in eastern Tibet's nonsectarian movement, was one of the most outstanding writers and teachers of his time.
Richard Barron (Chökyi Nyima) has been a student of Buddhism for nearly forty years and has studied with masters in all of the schools of Tibetan Buddhism. He has translated many historical works, including Buddhahood Without Meditation, and lives near Redding, California.
